If you are interested in running for office in St Tammany Parish or any district related to campaigning in St Tammany, please read through the info below and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. By filling out this form, you are merely expressing interest in running. Submitting this form does not commit you to running for any office. Once you have filled out this form, a representative from DPEC will reach out to learn more about you and discuss how we can best support your campaign. You may fill out this form at any time.

2026 Races on the Ballot

Dozens of local offices across St. Tammany Parish will be on the November 3, 2026 ballot, from judgeships and school board seats to mayors, aldermen, and more. If you have ever thought about running, this is your year, and the DPEC is here to help you take the first step.

Candidates officially qualify in person with the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court. The offices up for election are below. (These are public offices, and are separate from the DPEC's own committee seats.)

Parish-Wide

  • District Judges, 22nd Judicial District Court (Divisions A-L)

  • District Attorney, 22nd Judicial District Court

  • Justice of the Peace (2 elected in Wards 1, 2, 4, 10; 1 elected in Wards 3, 5, 6, 7, 8)

  • Constables (2 elected in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 10; 1 elected in Wards 5, 6, 7, 8)

  • School Board Members (Districts 1-15)

  • St. Tammany Parish Sheriff (Special Election)

Municipal and Local

  • East St. Tammany: City Judge, City Marshal

  • Abita Springs: Mayor, Aldermen

  • Folsom: Mayor, Aldermen

  • Pearl River: Mayor, Aldermen, Chief of Police

  • Covington: Councilman, District A (Special Election)

  • Lakeshore Villages Community Development, Slidell: District Supervisor (Divisions A-E)

How to Qualify

Candidates file qualifying papers in person with the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court on three days only:

  • Wednesday, August 5, 2026

  • Thursday, August 6, 2026

  • Friday, August 7, 2026

Hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM each day, at either location:

  • St. Tammany Parish Justice Center Parking Garage, 601 N. Jefferson Ave., Covington

  • St. Tammany Administrative Building (Towers), 5th Floor, 520 Old Spanish Trail, Slidell

What You Will Need to Qualify

  • A completed Notice of Candidacy (Qualifying Form), signed before a notary or two witnesses. On it, you certify that you are a registered voter and that you have filed your state and federal income taxes for the past five years (or filed extensions, or were not required to).

  • A valid Louisiana driver's license or Louisiana identification card.

  • A valid email address.

  • The qualifying fee for your office, paid by cash, certified check, cashier's check, or money order (personal checks are not accepted), OR a nominating petition in place of the fee.

  • Fees and any additional forms vary by office. Confirm the exact fee and requirements for the office you are seeking with the Clerk of Court before you go.
