JOIN the DPEC

Serving on the St. Tammany DPEC

DPEC members are the local representatives of the Democratic Party in St. Tammany Parish. In short, members work to elect Democrats, register and educate voters, support local Democratic organizations and officials, and help raise the funds that make it all possible.

Meetings

We meet monthly on the third Thursday at 6:45 PM at the St. Tammany Parish Council Chambers: 21490 Koop Dr, Mandeville, LA 70471. If you can't attend, you may send a proxy from among the other members or the public.

Committees

Most of the work happens in committees, and every member is encouraged to join at least one. Our currently active committees include Communications, Fundraising, Precinct Organizing / Voter Education, and Legislative, plus the Executive Committee (elected officers).

How to Join

There are two ways to become a member:

During elections. DPEC and DSCC seats are elected every four years, alongside Louisiana's presidential primary. The most recent elections were in 2024, so the next are expected in 2028, with qualifying in late 2027. The state sets exact dates and the qualifying fee closer to the election.

Between elections. When a seat is vacant, you can apply to be appointed. You must be registered to vote as a Democrat and reside in St. Tammany Parish. If appointed, there's a $37.50 qualifying fee payable to the St. Tammany DPEC, due when you're sworn in. Apply for a vacant seat via the form below.
